Your controller already works as shipped. Update it only if our support team asks you to,
or if you have been told this version fixes something you are hitting.
You can check the version you are on in the app, under Device.
If you have the knob display, update it too — in the same sitting.
The two talk to each other over their own radio link, and the message they exchange
changed after the display version this site used to carry. Controller v4.0.0 expects
display v4.0.0. Flash the controller, then the display, before
you judge whether anything is wrong.
- Download the file above on your phone.
- Open the Stair Lights app and connect to your controller.
- Go to Device → Update Firmware.
- Choose the downloaded .bin file, then tap Upload & Install.
- Wait for the controller to restart on its own. It takes about a minute.
Do not cut the power until the controller has restarted by itself. Losing power
part-way through can leave it unable to start, and fixing that needs the case opened and a
USB cable.
Picked the wrong file? The controller checks every upload and refuses anything that is not
its own firmware, so nothing is harmed — just try again with the right one.
